I need a skilled structural engineer to help me design a post/beam partially open/partially closed barn in Colorado. This is an equipment housing unit/work/storage space, and I'm looking for a durable and reliable structure that can withstand Colorado's climate for years to come. Would like to use as large or spans as possible in a post and beam manner with local species of Engleman spruce (standing dead), and existing standing seam metal roofing materials to form the shape of the building. -Looking for creative and efficient perspectives Key requirements: - Design and plan a large open barn, over 1000 square feet, to house my equipment/partially work from (small slab) - The barn will be in Colorado, thus the design should be suitable for the local climate - A preference for using standing dead spruce wood for the primary frame, and hem fir/2x material for the rest. - The structure should be sturdy and able to provide long-term protection for the equipment inside - The design should also allow for easy maintenance and potential future expansions Skills and experience that I'm looking for: - Proven experience in designing and planning large wood structures - Knowledge of construction materials and methods suitable for open barns in a cold climate - Strong understanding of structural engineering principles - Good communication skills to collaborate on the project effectively If this project aligns with your expertise, I would love to discuss further details and your approach to this project.
