WORK EXPERIENCE
01/04-present - The Newberry Group - Consultant - Placed at DITCO, Scott AFB
My duties at DITCO were to facilitate programming solutions in VB, ASP, JavaScript, PL/SQL, and any other applicable technology necessary to business problems. Major accomplishments were the implementation of automated filing into a document imaging system. This automation saved over 2300 man-hours per year. This automation effort involved deployment of Visual Basic and ASP applications. In addition, PL/SQL coding and research was performed.
10/03-01/04 - Net Effects - Consultant - Placed at 321 Studios
My primary duties were to integrate a third-party ASP.NET-based forum application with the existing 321 Studios licensing web site. This included making code changes and creating new ASP and ASP.NET pages, making modification to existing SQL scripts and creating new ones, setting the new system up on the production servers, and the creation of testing and implementation documentation. I also coded a proof of concept concerning Phase II of the project, which was to integrate an internal version of the ASP.NET-based forum with Active Directory.
7/01-10/03 (Consultant 7/01-11/01 – Employee 11/01-10/03) Teralogix, LLC - Senior Software Engineer
Primary duties were to develop and support existing systems for AAQ subsidiaries, including DealerHQ (an online lead tracking system for car dealers), CAC (an extended warranty provider), and most recently for SIMON (a new product being developed and marketed by Teralogix). In addition to team-specific duties, as a Senior Software Engineer, I provided technical assistance to other developers within Teralogix, which included mentoring junior developers.
For SIMON, I developed a batch emailing system in VB.NET. In addition, I was part of the team that rewrote the entire SIMON system in C#. My task was to develop the data access classes and all components that interact with the database. This involved heavy work in building efficient SQL statements, stored procedures and user-defined functions. There were also tasks performed such as database normalization and SQL tuning, and a minimal amount of ASP.NET development.
For CAC, I developed a commissions payable component in VB.NET, for the CAC accounting system rewrite. I also performed production control and support duties, which included working with another team member to write an ASP-based production control management system to automate PC duties. Both SQL Server and mySQL database were used in these systems. Additional duties included building SQL queries to be executed against the database, handling light database maintenance and manipulation at the systems level.
For DealerHQ, I developed a faxing system to automatically fax and email reports from a web-based system to DealerHQ clients. This system utilized both Microsoft and Linux platforms and was written in Visual Basic and Perl. The database for DealerHQ is SQL Server. Another project involved taking dealership leads generated from 3rd party vendors, such as CarFax.com, AutoByTel.com, and Cars.com, and import these leads into DealerHQ in an automated fashion. DBA tasks, such as SQL tuning for my project and projects being performed by other team members, modification of backup schedules, database normalization, and even building database servers from scratch for server rebuilds, new server builds, and disaster recovery situations. In addition to new development, I performed major and minor maintenance on the DealerHQ system, written in ASP (VBScript, JavaScript, SQL Server).
9/00-7/01 (Consultant) Analysts International Corporations (AiC) - Senior Web Application Developer - Placed at Drone and Mueller & Associates
Primary duties were to design and develop corporate and internal dynamic web sites/applications for DMA clients, assist the Internet Division head in department technology and infrastructure planning, assist other developers in their development and learning efforts.
Development duties included all aspects of the project process from attending initial meetings with clients to determine requirements, creation of project estimates, creation of the data model and development of the database and all SQL components that interacted with it such as stored procedures and SQL queries, to design, development, and implementation of the entire system. Systems developed have included, HR, FAQ, Administration, e-Commerce ordering including (both direct and indirect), credit card processing, News, Online Survey, Distributor and Rep Locators, Competitive Product Cross Reference, Press Release, and systems that allowed site users to upload files to the server through the browser.
Primary technologies used were ASP, VBScript (client and server side), JavaScript (client and server side), Visual Basic 6.0, SQL Server, Access, FoxPro conversion, Excel and CSV File import, Windows NT 2000, Windows NT 4.0, WS_FTP, HomeSite, Visual InterDev, Visio, Photoshop, and third party components such as Payflow Pro (for credit card processing), aspMail, SA-File Up, aspUpload (by Persits), ActiveFile, UPS Shipping Calculation components, and CDONTS.
Web sites in which I was partially or entirely responsible for web development include www.Fasco.com, www.StAnthonysMedCenter.com, www.Drone.com, www.Indeeco.com, www.Sunnen.com, various sites for Thermadyne Holdings Corp., www.Code3PSE.com, and www.StockCap.com.
DMA is relatively new to the Internet arena and has been growing rapidly. Assistance of the Division head included bringing a more structured approach to the web development environment (including infrastructure and software) and the development process using my past experience.
7/00-9/00 (Consultant) Technology Partners, Inc. Software Engineer – Web Development - Placed at Navisys, Inc.
Responsibilities included maintenance of existing systems, including extensive Transact-SQL work. Existing systems were web-based insurance company applications written in ASP using VBScript, JavaScript, HTML, and Transact-SQL on an IIS and SQL Server platform. Duties also included SQL tuning and database normalization.
11/98 – 7/00 (Consultant) Placed at Ameren Corp.
Primary duties were to develop a corporate Intranet site. Handled all phases of web site creation, including analysis of existing content, scope work, design criteria, configuration of web and database servers, migration of existing content, creation of new dynamic content, testing, and implementation. Maintained the Intranet environment by keeping OS and server software up-to-date and debugging any problems as they occurred.
Also assigned to various other development teams where my duties were creation of VB COM components to communicate with back-end Oracle databases, creation of Visual Basic front-end applications, creation of ASP applications using VBScrip
