This is an outsourcing project. To apply, place your bid below and we'll notify you if the employer picks you to work on it. Since this is a pay-for-deliverables project, you will bid a fixed price to complete the entire job. If you win and complete the work according to contract, you will be paid completely at the end (or partially as each of your optional milestones arrive). vWorker.com guarantees payment to all workers who meet their contracts.

Brief summary:
  • vWorker.com reminder: You MAY NOT post the final solution for this (and any) project before your bid is accepted and funds are fully escrowed. Anyone who does may have their account permanently suspended. However, you CAN post:
    • On programming projects: A prototype or functional demo...as long as source code is not provided.
    • On graphics projects: A watermarked and low-resolution version of the work.
My site uses Joomla, ZenCart, and phpBB. In their default state, Joomla, ZenCart, and phpBB all look quite different from eachother. I need a template for my site that will make all three applications look like they belong to the same site.

I'm building a small business website, and need a template, including all original images/files, that seamlessly integrates:
- Joomla
- Zen Cart
- phpBB

I will give a few details on color, similar sites, etc.

You need to provide 3-5 rough drafts, and I will pick the one I prefer. Then I will need you to fine-tune the design, and finally install the template on my site. I will provide FTP access and any other required details.

I will only accept a bidder who can show previous work completed that is similar to what I'm asking for here.

Requirements Interview Answers:
To help you bid more accurately, the employer was interviewed about the requirements for this project. Below are their answers. Untitled Page
Project Type: What kind of work do you need done?
Software related (Includes desktop applications and internet websites)
Project Parts: What do you want the worker to do on this project?
Requirements: The worker will analyze the problem and propose a software-based solution to the problem.
Programming: The worker will take the requirements and translate them into the language of the computer (and test it).
User installation: The installer will move the software from the place it was created (which is called the development or QC environment) to where you will use it (which is called the production environment). The installer then tests the software to make sure that the installation was done properly and completely.
Req. Doc. Type: What kind of documentation do you want for this project?
Formal documentation - After talking back and forth, the worker creates a formal document and/or prototype, as follows:
  • Prototype: The analyst will create a non-working mockup of all pages/screens in the final software. Creating a prototype makes it easier for the user to visualize the final software, and reduces misunderstandings.
Program Type: What kind of software should the worker create (and/or install)?
  • An internet web-site: This software runs on a web server and users will access it using their internet browser.
Internet web-site info
Design and functionality: What does the programming of this project involve?
  • Design: Create the layout of the pages (or modify the layout of existing pages).
Modeling another site: Do you wish to model another site? Yes: I don't want you to model exactly, but these are a couple sites that have products and services similar to the website I'm building:

http://www.adafruit.com/
http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/categories.php

As you will notice, they both include electronics kits and products, blogs, forums, and articles. My site will contain such content as well.
Size of website: How many pages need to be created/edited in this website?
I don't know.
Other info:I need a matching set of templates for Joomla, Zen Cart, and phpBB.

I'm adding the actual content (articles, products, etc) myself. I just need the template and need them installed.

I will also be supplying the company logo for you to use in the site template.
Programming Language: What programming language(s) do you want your website written in?
I do know the language(s).
Languages(s):
  • PHP
  • Javascript
  • Cascading style sheets (CSS)
Database: Will this project include a database?
Yes, it does include a database.
Details:
  • MySQL -- version(s): 5
Misc. details: Because there are three different programs running on my site, there are three separate databases. All MySQL.

Browser Type(s)/Version(s): Which browser/version combinations must this website support?
  • IE 8.0
  • IE 7.0
  • Firefox 3.6
  • Firefox 3.0
  • Safari 41
Server Hosting Environment: What is your server hosting environment?
I have a server at a 3rd party hosting company.
The name of the hosting company is: HostGator
The server's shared/dedicated status is: Shared with other people.

Component Compatibility Protection:
Sometimes a worker may create features on the website that rely on componentswhich work fine on their own server, but won't work with your 3rd party hosting company's server. There are many reasons for this including version incompatibility, restricted permissions, etc... vWorker.com normally requires that the worker verify in advance that your 3rd party hosting provider will support the components.  If they do not, then they are responsible for any incompatibilities, rather than you. Do you want this protection on your project?
No, I will be responsible for any components of the final solution that do not work with my hosting company.
Server Hosting Environment: Will the worker develop "live" on your server?
Other / not sure/ or need advice. Details: Initially, the worker is responsible for creating their own development and/or qc environment. But I will allow a couple days during the installation for adjustments as needed.
Physical installation: Who will perform the physical installation?
The worker will perform the physical installation, and will be given all necessary permissions to do so.
Legal: 1) I require complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done (so that I may modify it in the future), and complete and fully-functional images required for the templates.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
2a) Any website server-side deliverables must be installed by the Worker in ready-to-run condition in the Employer's environment.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Employer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
3b) No part of the deliverable may contain any copyright restricted 3rd party components (including GPL, GNU, Copyleft, etc.) unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the employer on the site per the worker's Worker Legal Agreement.
Detailed Requirements:

This broadcast message was sent to all bidders on Monday Sep 6, 2010 11:36:12 AM:

I've already installed Joomla, Zen Cart, and phpBB on my servers. That is a task you won't have to do. I just need you to design and install the templates themselves.
  • Worker: On pay-for-deliverable projects, all deliverables must be uploaded to vWorker.com before the deadline(s)…with no exceptions. If this contract makes it impossible to do this (for example if it is for a service that cannot be uploaded), then do not start this project. Otherwise, you may find yourself unprotected by the payment guarantee. Instead, ask the employer to switch this project to pay-for-time, so you are guaranteed payment. If the employer will not switch this, then please alert us. (Click here for more details...)
  • Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all outsourcing pay-for-deliverables projects < $500 (before the employer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the employer and worker agreements. vWorker.com monitors all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressors on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation. If you notice a violation please help out the site and report it. Thanks for your help.
Categories:
  • The categories were created by the employer, but sometimes mistakes occur. If any of these categories are incorrect, please report it and let us know.
  • Like everything else on this page, these categories are part of the original contract for this project.
Web development, User interface (UI) programming, Database, Languages, Requirements, PHP, Other (Technology), Linux, MySQL, Javascript, Cascading style sheets (CSS), Joomla, Technology, Tech details

Expert guarantee required:

It is crucial to the employer that this entire project be completed (100%) by the deadline of 22 days. They only want expert workers who will commit themselves to this deadline to bid. If you are not an expert or unable to commit completely to the deadline, then DO NOT BID on this project.

If you are an expert and can commit, the employer would like you to demonstrate this by making an Expert Guarantee of at least 5% of your bid. (This would not need to be made now...but only if and when you are selected as the winning bidder). If you complete the job (100% by the deadline), then your deposit would be refunded to you. If you do not, then you would forfeit the deposit and it would go to cover the employer's cancellation charge and the remainder donated to a non-profit charity.

Please note that depending on how you choose to make the deposit, there may be a small, non-refundable processing fee. This fee can be reduced or eliminated by choosing a less expensive method of payment. Or, you may wish to ask the employer to cover the cost of the fee for you. You can do this in a number of ways such as: increasing the price of your bid, asking the employer to post a 2nd project to cover it (contingent on completion of the project), or by getting the employer to promise to pay the fee to you as a bonus (upon completion of the project). If you choose the bonus route, just remember that due to credit card/PayPal rules, vWorker.com CANNOT force an employer to pay a bonus involuntarily...even when promised on-site. So don't choose this option, unless you trust the employer, or are willing to take a small risk.

This is just a very brief overview of how the Expert Guarantee works and there are many more details that you need to understand fully before you bid on this project. DO NOT BID on this project until you've read and fully understand everything about the Expert Guarantee (including reading the contract and the FAQs).
