Note: To honor your privacy, Rent A Coder releases only your email address to the opposite party. However, you are free to exchange additional contact information such as IM and phone number information (if you wish). Just remember that if there is a dispute, off-site communication is not taken into account in the arbitration process (because it is too easily faked). For your own protection, always follow up off-site communication with an on-site posting of what was agreed upon (and get the other party to confirm your posting on-site). If for some reason you do not want this project, you can cancel without negative repercussions IF you notify us within 24 hours of escrowing being complete. To do this go to your "My Bid Request Control Panel" box on your bid request and click on "Cancel (without penalty) within 24 hours of acceptance". After doing this, please also give the buyer the courtesy of notifying them as well.  If you wait till after that, you will no longer be able to cancel that way, and will have to go into mediation/arbitration...which could result in a poor rating for you for terminating your contract prematurely.


This buyer will have final power over when you get paid, so please get your working relationship off on the right foot, by contacting him/her through the site to let them know that you are starting the job.

To ensure prompt payment, don't forget:

1) Remember to upload all deliverables periodically to the site to protect yourself in the event of an arbitration. And when all work is done, please report project completion at the link above.

2) Don't shoot yourself in the foot! Lack of buyer response, scope creep, deadlines (and many other types of common problems) can derail this project if you are not careful. Worse, if you haven't educated yourself on how to properly manage these issues on Rent A Coder, you may find yourself on the losing side of an arbitration with an unnecessary blemish on your record. We can protect you in arbitration, but only if you've taken the time to first protect yourself. So make sure you complete read and understand your "Crucial information" email. If you are unable to complete the job on the agreed schedule, please contact the buyer as soon as possible (ASAP). Often times early notice can mean they may make more time for you. At the worst it can mean the difference between an 'amicable separation' and a 'nasty separation' with a bad rating that would make it difficult for you to get repeat work on the site again.
