I think it is not this much critical issue so RAC should advise buyer to take his/her funds back and close their projects for Pakistani.

Most of the Pakistani coders working on RentACoder already have alternate electricity resources as this issue is a year old. I personally bought UPS and a laptop six months ago and never had any problem to deliver my projects due to electricity crisis.

I request RentACoder team to remove this warning as soon as possible as this will really distress business of Pakistani Coders.

i strongly protest against the notice on site regarding electricity issue in pakistan.

it is no more than a media hype. these issues are not current, these are almost a decade old. so how can you ask people to avoid business with pakistanis?

everyone here has standby generators and UPS for backup so there is no such issue.

please remove this message, it would hurt rentacoder in long run as pakistani coders would start switching to other platforms.

Since this issue is a decade old and almost all of us(Even small shops were using UPS/Generator).

As such I request RentACoder team to remove this warning as soon as possible.

i strongly protest  against this notice !

This is quite unfair notice , although in pakistan there is little  problem of electricity but there is not a totally dark . only for  some hours we are facing this problem and for that we have alternative source of powers ,

mostly coders in pakistan have alternative source of electric power like UPS , Electric generators .

so i strongly protest  against this notice , and i request to administrator that take out this notice from site as soon as possible.

and i also request to my pakistani fellows that they should ask to Administrator to take out this message .

I do not understand why RAC put this notice on site, Did they received complaint from some buyer about delay in work due to Electric problem?

Although there is some problem with electricity in Pakistan, But that's only load-shedding of maximum about 6 hours, and that is not a strait Shift  it's happen mostly in night time and it's also happen maximum of one hour and then come back.

I think no coder on RAC facing any problem in working on computer due to this load-shedding.Every  coder have laptop or UPS or other standby power solution.
So I request RAC Administration please remove this notic immediately from the site.

Is RAC discriminating Pakistan and Pakistani coder?

To RAC Administration:

We have 8 projects in progress at RAC (username: H-world). Please contact our clients and ask them if their is a delay of even a SINGLE minute due to electricity issues.

We have UPS and Generators at backend. Such notifications are NOT justified. I hope RAC, being a Neutral site, will remove the message very soon.

i do agree that pakistan is facing electricity problem but that doesnt mean that pakistani coders should stop working. Most of the software houses in paksitan have UPS backup for their offices. We are facing load shedding problem from the last 6 months but all of us have sucessfully delivered our work on time. RAC should remove this message as soon as possible. If a coder cant guarentee time delivery they should not bid on those projects, instead of using lame excuses of load shedding.

i am just surprised to see this news at top. This is not a issue to post at the top. i am in pakistan. i have my own system of electricity so no problem with electricity. i have completed projects and you can see this on my profile.
i strongly request Administrator to remove this message.
With this message, buyers will not give us any project. we are running a good business at RAC and this message is just damaging our business, i am strongly thinking to move to other website for freelancing.
please be realistic, can Administrator show us the statistics that how many projects are effected with this problem and remember almost 12 months have been passed with this situation in pakistan.so how many projects are effected since last year??

This is a total Non-sense, First politics now this. where ever we are progressing they have problems, i mean what the hell is wrong with you people/. ask the buyers if the had a delay in any project due to power shotage. Thank God we have our own resources to finish our work on time unlike some people who dont know about anything and put up weird lines on the top of forums to have some importance. Please get a life and let us work. and stop burning because or our progress. If you wanna beat us, beat us in the competition rather then backing out by doing such coward things.

I don't think like this way,
RENTACODER.com tries to help the Pakistani Peoples by informing all the buyers of rentacoder.com, that if they are having any issues in getting the work on time then don't take any action, because Pakistani peoples are suffering from severe electricity breakdown.

I appreciate their efforts, its not like what peoples are talking, come on, this is reality we are having this issue, and we are putting our extra efforts and money on UPS and Power Generator, and this is all our dedication and committments to our hard work.

This is what RENTACODER.com tries to tell the world, and WE, Pakistani have to proof ourself that we are the committed to our words and deadlines and we can do anything to fulfill the commitment.

I agree with what Aamir Say's. Please If some one want to complaint about the issue, Please use some proper word.And do not react like this as some of previous post show that they  have no manners.
Please understand that Rent A Coder is one of the best platform for working remotely.Imagine if they block all the coders from Pakistan even then we can not force them for there action.
It is there duties to inform there buyer from severe condition of the world.As in one of previous post some one say Pakistan facing this problem from 6  month then also imagine if they are aware from this condition from 6 month and waiting to resolve the condition being better but if after a 6 month they let the buyer the truth then is it wrong?
However I again say that including me I think no coder is facing severe problem due to this load sheading. And I again appreciate the positive thinking of the Mr Aamir, that in a sence it's showing that our nation is a handwork nation, although condition are some bad but we ( the computer tech people) beat it from the front.I do not know a single software house which close his office due to electricity problem opposite of this they are progressing.
At last I want to do  a request to all the Pakistani please protest/comments but please in some manner.
Rent A Coder gives many people a way to earn/learn  better in the international markets, And we will says thanks to them not behaving them like by this action they are being our opponent.And in reality it's our media which is propagating this problem without feeling there responsibility.They are giving the world a dark side of the pakistan.

We strongly disagree about this issue! All most all the Pakistani's IT Companies and Individuals have alternate solutions, Like UPS, Generators, Laptops and solar energy systems, so what is the meaning of electricity problem?

Some people are in favour and some are not.

But this is true that Pakistani are Hard workers and they are trying their level best to achieve the goals and fulfill the demands of the buyers.

But this is also the case somebody who can not afford the Laptops and UPS or generators are finding difficulties.

P.S:
In last 6 months, our office was closed for exactly 0 days except on Sunday & Eid holidays. That's 0 in 6 months.

And our downtime is about 4 hours in last 6 months due to electric or other problems.

So politics + violence + electric: 4 hours in 6 month. I don't need to calculate to see it is 99%+ up time

These are very hard message which can effect business for many people in Pakistan.

We work on Standby Generators all the time and do not even use government electricity most of the time. So how can we effect I dont know.

Now In Pakistan a Small Vegetable seller is using generators its 21st century My Rent A Coder friends no one reply on one option like you have 4 options for payment in this website.

Please remove this message ASAP.

Can RAC admin, who posted this warning, please be fair and do the following:

1) Post evidence of their claim (electricity is unavailable more often than not) for 3 cities that bring RAC 90% of Pakistani audience (Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad)

2) Post comparison of client satisfaction of Pakistan versus India, Israel, Vietnam, Russia?

Each software house in Pakistan has 100% uninterrupted power due to 100% presence of Generators & UPS.

Can Administrators specify the exact reason why they posted that kind of message please, do you receive any large number of complains from buyers about Pakistani Coder ? or its just because you read the new on some kind of news paper. Some newspaper say world is gonna be end after bigbang are you going to show that as well :)

Anyway my friend we have all facilities available in Pakistan to deliver on time. There are massive IT companies running on dual standby generators and UPS on top of that.

This message could have long lasting effect on businesses in Pakistan, I request you to remove this please. I hope you guys understand our point.

I am from Pakistan, working on RAC for more than seven years, and you know what, this is the worst thing I have seen on RAC. Displaying suc message means, atleast 90% new clients are not available anymore for Pakistanis. Only those who have been working with us, and we have their trust, may continue.

I have several types of alternates for power available, so the fact is, my computer runs 24 hours a day. Why I have done so? because, I am serious to my work and invest back some of my money to my work to make sure I am available anytime of the day. No matter if regular supply is available or not.

My vote for the Pakistanis, and to ask RAC to remove such message. Ofcourse, they can display this some other way, but not as "RED ALERT". This place is for the site shut down for maintanance or such things affecting ALL users from all countries. Not some specific country should be disgraced like this.

I understand that RAC intenetions from this message is positive for all. But the wording selection is not fair.

- You are welcome to ask any of our client/buyer, if they had any problem due to this.

- We have power backups of UPS and Generator both, and I know most other people and teams working for RAC from Pakistan also has either one of this facility available.

I strongly recommend RAC should revise the words used in message, And note that this problem may only be with few coders from Pakistan. But your message is giving a very bad impression as if no one is able to work from Pakistan.

I believe RAC understand our concern positively and revise the message wordings.

This advice from RAC telling buyers not to do business with Pakistani developers is an extremely irresponsible act by RAC. It must be removed immediately, or at least it should be reworded to present the correct prespective.

Since I can remember, any computer user in Pakistan who does serious work has a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) with a battery backup of 4 to 6 hours. Most also have a small generator as second backup.

The power condition in all third world countries is the same. Due to the unconditioned supply we HAVE TO HAVE a UPS. So it is nothing new that has happened now.

Most of us developers are located in Software Technology Parks where power backup is provided by the facility. Those who work from home or their own facilities have UPS and/or generators.

Customers who have been using Pakistani companies have never been hurt by our power problems. Why has RAC taken it upon itself to explode this as an issue?

Regardless of the reasons, I make a strong protest to RAC. They must remove the alert and apologize to Pakistani developers for the damage to business they have caused. Even if an alert is to be posted, it should essentially say:

There is a power shortage in Pakistan. However most Pakistani developers have their own UPS and/or Generator backups. Buyers are advised to confirm with their developers if such backup is available to them for uninterrupted service.

I request all Pakistani developers to send similar protests to RAC management via this blog and the feedback link on the RAC homepage.

This is from Ian Ippolito, the owner of Rent a coder.  My sincere apologies if your business was negatively affected in any way.  The message had been removed.

A number of Pakistani coders had claimed that the electrical situation had recently gotten out of hand and asked to be excused from their projects without a poor rating.  We researched the situation on the internet and it appeared true and did so and then posted the warning on the site.  After posting the warning, we then received a number of emails saying that the electrical situation is no different than it used to be for many years, and that competent coders have already made other arrangements and are not affected.

Since there is a big conflict between what different people in Pakistan are telling us, we have removed all messages until we are able to sort out exactly what is happening.

Again my apologies.

   Thank you for taking this step. Please note that the serious coder will always let the buyer know if he has some sort of problem. For example, if I am invited to a project and I dont have enough time to complete that, or I know I have electricity problem or any other issue, I will never accept that project. Or will ask for enough time from the client.

  I understand that you might have encountered with situation for adjusting rating due to electricity problem (posted by Pakistanies), but really, that is an excuse. If someone says so, this does mean that he didnt negociated with buyer correctly and didnt asked for enough time. This is the part of the analysis before you bid on a project. So I guess, rating must not be adjusted for them.

I strongly appreciate your response and thanks alot for removing that message from RAC site. I am new on RAC but We (Me and one of my friend) have recenty quit our job to give fulltime to freelance. We are working with different buyers with more than 4000$ (total) right now. At the time when we were planning to buy UPS+Generators as backup, RAC displayed that message on their website and we were like so disappointed and were looking on Elance. I agree that few of Pakistani coders are making lame excuses of power failure but believe me this is totally lame excuse. Out of 24 hours we don't have power failure for 3 hours in day time and 2 hours at night (And this is not new. I can send you 10 years old news paper quotes saying load shedding problem in pakistan). All serious coders have power backup with them.
